Corruption is one of the scariest problems of Ukraine. Even scarier is the fact that everyone is so used to corruption that it turned into a usual background to most of Ukrainians, as if everyone was OK with the fact that the unscrupulous bureaucrats steal public money. And because of that, most of Ukrainians consider this problem to be rather dull than scary.
That's why we decided to remember the first time when people consciously meet their fears. Near the campfire! Scary stories about The Wheeled Coffin, The Black Hand and The Red Mark are the most typical stories that are told near the campfires by the Ukrainians – so we decided to combine those scary stories from childhood with the scary reality of nowadays.
That's how we made Campfire Stories for the Corruptionists. Once in a year they gather round the campfire and tell scary stories to one another – mostly about the cases when such kleptocrats as them were caught. We turned real anti-corruption cases by journalists and investigators into simple and funny stories that tell us that, well, being a corruptionist is bad. Or else the journalist will find you and… boo, reveal you!
